Y3/4 Kwik Cricket Competition - Wednesday 8th June

Last week was the Y3/4 Drax Kwik Cricket Competition, hosted by Hollinsend Cricket Club. We had performed really well in the previous two years at this event - winning it in 2014 and losing in the semi-finals in 2015. 2016 was a much harder task as we went with quite an inexperienced team and came up against strong schools. We were unable to reach the semi-finals as despite beating Southey Green we were defeated by Monteney. Well done to all children for their effort and they learnt so much over the course of the day which will help them next time. Please find a selection of photos below:

Y5/6 Netball Competition - Monday 23rd May

On Monday our netball team participated in the High5 competition at King Edwards School. We were drawn in a hard pool against favourites Ecclesall and Parson Cross. With only one team going through to the final, we managed to beat Parson Cross, but were defeated by eventual winners Ecclesall. Please find photos below:

Y5 Kwik Cricket Competition - Thursday 19th May

Last week our Y5s travelled to Whitley Hall CC to participate in the annual kwik cricket competition. We had a fantastic day and the children performed wonderfully well. We managed to comfortably beat Monteney and Grenoside to advance to the final against Foxhill, where we lost a thrilling match by 1 run on the last ball, narrowly missing out on a place in the Sheffield finals. Well done to all the squad, many of whom were Y4s.

To complete the programme we will compete in a tournament at the EIS in Sheffield in the Summer term. Please find a selection of photos from the coaching sessions below:

N Power Kids Football Cup - Friday 20th November

Our KS2 team braved cold and wet conditions to have an enjoyable day of football at Concord Sports Centre, organised by SWFC Community team. Our record for the day read P6 W2 D2 L2, including an agonising and unfortunate defeat to rivals, Southey Green. This saw us qualify for the quarter finals where our tournament ended as we lost 2-0. A great day was had by all though and well done to all the children involved for putting up with the elements. Photos below:

Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition - Thursday 19th November

Thursday - Y5/6 Netball

School Football Team

The team had three matches on the Thursday and Friday before half term. On Thursday we lost 5-1 at Hartley Brook in a game where the final score did not reflect the game as we had a mad five minutes and conceded three goals. Better was to follow on Friday as we drew 0-0 with Mansell before defeating Foxhill 2-0, with both goals scored by Callum. Thanks to Mr West and Mr Baker for running training sessions and preparing the team.

Y5 Futsal Festival - Wednesday 21st October

Our first event of the year was the Y5 futsal festival at Yewlands in the last week before half term. We won two out of our three group games to qualify for the semi finals, with the highlight being a hat-trick from Tyler. An excellent performance in the semi-final saw us win a penalty shoot out to progress to the final. In the final we also faced a penalty shoot out after a 2-2 draw with Monteney, but much like the England team we suffered heartbreak as we missed the crucial kick to hand them victory! Nonetheless it was a great afternoon.  Please see a selection of photos below

Welcome back to the new school year!

There are three after school clubs running this half term: Y3/4 Football on a Monday, KS2 Gymnastics on a Tuesday and Y5/6 Football on a Thursday. Please see the breakfast/after school tab for more information.
